Purpose

The Hispanic Educational Summit 2003 is an initiative of the NCSHP to: Promote and disseminate information on the benefits of formal and higher education among the Hispanic youth of North Carolina.

There is a vital need to encourage Hispanic students to stay in school, excel in their studies, and pursue higher education. The Hispanic Educational Summit 2003 has been planned in part to fulfill this need.

Objectives

• To serve as an outreach program to promote education among 7th to 12th graders utilizing workshops and presentations.
• To motivate Hispanic students to excel at their highest potential in their studies through motivational talks by speakers who have achieved success in their professional fields.
• To offer Hispanic students tips and information to acquire skills and develop strategies to improve their academic achievement.
• To inform Hispanic students on educational opportunities and school programs in various community colleges and universities.
• To inform and share information with parents, teachers, school administrators, Hispanic community leaders, and Hispanic professionals on the educational needs of Hispanic youths.

Propósito

La Conferencia Educativa Hispana 2003, es una iniciativa de la NCSHP para: Promover y difundir información sobre los beneficios de la educación formal y superior entre la juventud hispana de Carolina del Norte. 

Existe la necesidad de motivar a los estudiantes hispanos a que no deserten de la escuela, a obtener buenas calificaciones y a que continúen con una educación superior. La Conferencia Educativa Hispana 2003 ha sido planeada en parte con el propósito de contribuir a satisfacer tal necesidad.

Objetivos

• Servir como programa de alcance para promover la educación entre estudiantes de 7º a 12º año, utilizando talleres de trabajo y presentaciones.
• Motivar a los estudiantes hispanos, mediante pláticas con ponentes que han obtenido éxito en sus profesiones, para alcanzar su máximo potencial en la escuela .
• Ofrecer consejos e información para que los estudiantes adquieran destrezas y desarrollen estrategias para mejorar su rendimiento escolar.
• Proporcionar información sobre oportunidades educativas, programas escolares y de apoyo en instituciones de enseñanza media y superior.
• Informar y compartir información con padres defamilia, maestros, administradores escolares, líderes comunitarios hispanos y profesionales hispanos sobre las necesidades educativas de los jóvenes hispanos.
